The AES Solution

The company integrated AES’s SC-512-4-SAFE environmental test chamber with the ATPHEAVY ADAPTABLE battery testing fixture to meet these demands. This combination delivers precise, high-current cycling and advanced safety features in a flexible, scalable setup.

  • High-Capacity Testing: The ATPHEAVY ADAPTABLE fixture supports 8 channels at 250 amps each, allowing cells to cycle at the high currents required for next-generation battery packs. The system is also configurable to support a single 500-amp channel for applications that demand higher power, offering flexibility as testing needs evolve. The clamps are made of gold plated buss bars for secure connections.
  • Advanced Safety and Containment: The SC-512-4-SAFE chamber provides a secure, controlled environment for testing under extreme conditions. Designed to mitigate and contain battery thermal events, it incorporates advanced venting and airflow systems and meets EUCAR Level 7 safety standards to prevent thermal runaway from escalating.
  • Precision Environmental Control: Engineered for stable and consistent temperature management, the SC-512-4-SAFE allows for accurate simulation of harsh, real-world conditions. This ensures reliable performance data during high-discharge cycling and stress testing.
  • Remote Monitoring with AESONE CONNECT: Real-time control and monitoring capabilities enable users to track test conditions remotely. This enhances safety, improves operational efficiency, and ensures consistent oversight throughout demanding test protocols.

Scalable Testing Capabilities

While the SC-512-4-SAFE is a benchtop chamber, it’s designed for stackable configurations. This energy storage innovator doubled their testing capacity by stacking two chambers and running a second ATPHEAVY ADAPTABLE fixture. The second application was a 16 channel 100 amp fixture.

 

This setup allows for increased channel counts, testing of different cell formats, and simultaneous protocols within a compact footprint.
