Expert Answers to Common Environmental Test Chamber Questions

AdobeStock_905269748

Whether you’ve been environmental testing for decades or just started, pain points and hurdles can arise across industries and chamber types, leaving you wondering where to turn for answers. Associated Environmental Systems (AES) is here to help. Over the years, we’ve acquired expert knowledge on countless topics, from data management to downtime questions. We can ease your concerns with immediate insight and solutions.

Test Chamber Downtime

How often should a test chamber be calibrated?

It’s best practice to calibrate your chamber every six months to a year to ensure it runs smoothly and produces accurate test results. However, the calibration frequency can differ depending on your specific type of test chamber, environmental test chamber standards, and your manufacturer’s protocol. Factors like usage patterns and environmental conditions can influence your routine calibration schedule. We recommend checking with all guidelines and standards to determine the best calibration frequency for your chamber.

Issues like controller drifts can arise if calibration isn’t completed properly or frequently enough. These ‘drifts’ result in inaccurate testing outcomes and place the customer at risk due to broken or malfunctioning controllers. With proper preventive maintenance techniques and habits in place, problems like controller failure can be avoided.

Who do I contact when I’m experiencing downtime?

If you've exhausted your resources and need to figure out who to turn to, call our team at AES. Send us a message via a form specifying your need, or if you have an urgent need, use our free over-the-phone/video call troubleshooting service for all AES chamber customers. To speak with a live representative, call us at 978-540-0942, chat with us on our website,or email us at support@associatedenvironmentalsystems.com. If you have chambers from other companies, we service all chamber models and manufacturers' chambers. Our team will be more than happy to assist you and get your chamber back and running.

Test Chamber Performance Limitations

Can I increase the humidity range of my chamber?

With an AES humidity chamber, you absolutely can! Our vapor generator systems give you complete control over your chamber’s workspace. With optional features such as high humidity sensors, you can easily measure humidity as high as 98% RH.

Can I add boost cooling to my cooling system?

Boost cooling is possible. If you’re completing stress tests that call for rapid cooling, boost cooling can be added with liquid LN2 or CO2 for even faster pull-down rates. Keep in mind that even if you don’t choose to add boost cooling, our standard cascade refrigeration systems are known for having the fastest standard change rates of any environmental test chamber manufacturer.

Data Management for Testing Chambers

How can AESONE CONNECT assist with securing my data?

AES’s AESONE CONNECT secures your chamber and data with robust security features. Six permission levels, ranging from full administrator privileges to restricted viewing only, give you unparalleled control. AESONE CONNECT even allows you to set expiration dates for user accounts to guarantee continued data security.

Additionally, AESONE CONNECT has multi-year logging capabilities that allow you to store live and historical data. You can export your historical and sensor data anytime, anywhere, and share it with your team to examine findings.

Does AESONE CONNECT come standard with my chamber?

AESONE CONNECT comes standard with most AES chambers, but we can always upgrade your chamber if it does not come standard. We also can retrofit any manufacturer's chamber to have the ability to connect with the original chamber interface platform, AESONE CONSOLE.

General Test Chamber Information

What are the safety considerations for environmental test chambers?

If you're properly prepared, testing can be safe. To ensure a safe testing experience, know your exact test chamber placement and needs. To name a few precautions, don’t place your chambers too close to the wall to avoid decreasing the performance level of the chamber, and make sure your chamber is anchored to the floor with brackets.

AES chambers all come standard with safety features such as:

  • Over Temperature Heat Fusing
  • Refrigeration System
  • Over Pressure Safety Circuit

AES SAFE chambers come with another level of protection and safety features like emergency stops, temperature limits, and more.  Any chamber can be customized to your safety levels.

What are the different environmental test chamber sizes?

At AES, we offer a wide range of environmental test chambers. From small benchtop chambers as small as less than 1 cu ft to large walk in and drive in environmental chambers that span up to 485 cu ft, our wide variety encompasses your needs.

Test Chamber types include:

  • Benchtop models
  • Rack & stack models
  • Floor models
  • Walk-in models
