The Battery Show 2024
North America’s premier Advanced Battery and H/EV event lasted from October 8 to 10. For the first time, The Battery Show 2024 was hosted in Huntington Place in Downtown Detroit, signaling its growing success. Alongside 1,115 exhibitors, Associated Environmental Systems showcased our advanced battery testing equipment, which is designed to help aid the battery testing industry in creating and testing battery designs and chemistries and help the goal of creating longer-lasting and faster charging batteries.
AES was excited to bring along a full team at the battery test conference, including Michael Shirley, CEO; Aaron Robinson, VP of Sales and Service; Brock Kenyon, CTO; Bob Laudisi, Account Executive-East Coast; Mark Pedley, Account Executive-Midwest; Nick DiCeglie, Account Executive-West Coast; and Haylie Batres-Marketing Director.
Benchtop Battery Test Chamber
The AES team spotlighted the SC-514-4-SAFE benchtop battery test chamber, an ATPHEAVY Adaptable fully integrated into the SC-514-4-SAFE, an ATPHEAVY Adaptable with four variations optimized for different cell types and sizes, and an ATP/Cycler interface. Located in Booth 4215, the team answered questions and encouraged participants to learn more about AES’s innovative products.
SC-512-4-SAFE Benchtop Test Chamber
Known as the Super 512, the SC-512-4-SAFE benchtop test chamber is the world's most powerful temperature-only benchtop test chamber. This unique chamber is designed with AES SAFE battery testing safety features to keep in mind operator safety up to EUCAR Hazard Level 7. The SC-512-4-SAFE can integrate with our ATP® battery testing fixtures, including our ATPHEAVY ADAPTABLE, allowing customers to be able to customize their battery testing for different cell formats, sizes, and amperages. Designed with safety features that keep labs safe and protected, the SC-512-4-SAFE has a burst disk, safety purge, temperature-limited sheath heaters, eight product thermocouples, and more integral features. Working with your lab space—not against it—this test chamber has an optional floor stand, or you can double the test workspace by stacking two SC test chambers in the same footprint.
ATPHEAVY Adaptable
As the EV battery testing industry continues to grow, the AES team realized that a battery fixture solution is essential to ensure performance, safety, and reliability. Designed for easy customizations and modifications, ATPHEAVY ADAPTABLE is a modular board that can be adjusted to accommodate various high-amperage testing requirements. AES understands how competitive the battery testing market can be, so when we designed the Adaptable, we wanted to make something that can make your investment last and be easily changeable when requirements change. Across all industries, including EV, consumer electronics, energy storage, and beyond, ATPHEAVY ADAPTABLE has the potential to help businesses save time and money and bring revolutionary products to market faster.
As demonstrated at the Battery Show 2024, when integrated with the SC-512-4-SAFE, the battery testing chamber and the fixture become one tool, enabling companies to test their batteries more efficiently and effectively. In Detroit, we showcased the fully integrated battery testing solution, optimizing it with different setups and battery sizes within the chamber. Attendees could view four variations optimized for different cell types and sizes:
- Shelf 1: 8 channels of 60 amps with two variations of cell sizes.
- Another Option: 4 Channels at 120 amps, the shelf can go up to 120 amps.
- Shelf 2: Two long pouch cells opposing sides with 2 channels at 300 amps.
- Another Option: 1 Channel at 600 amps.
- Shelf 3: Same-side prismatic cells of 300 amps.
- Another Option: 1 channel at 600 amps
- Shelf 4: 8 cylindrical-sized cells at 60 amps each channel.
- Another Option: 4 channels at 120 amps

ATP Cycler Interface
This year, AES was proud to spotlight its ATP Cycler Interface. Our battery test chambers offer a secure location for cycler connection at the back of the chamber, ensuring a seamless integration of your test chamber equipped with our All Test Platform (ATP) and chosen cycler. Its unique location helps guarantee connections, safety, and functionality so you can directly communicate about your cell's health. When purchasing a battery test chamber from AES, before testing, we ensure we do an onsite installation to ensure all connections are set up properly to guarantee testing begins immediately. Attendees got a special peek into how this integration works and learned more about the relationship between our variety of battery test chambers and cyclers.
